The 81-acre site of Chapman Lake Park was donated to the people of Stanley by the Northwestern Lumber Company after their mill closed in 1922. It was named after George Chapman who was the manager of the mill. Recently, the mill pond was drained and a new concrete dam was built. Over the years restrooms with flush toilets, a bathhouse, the Maves Memorial Pavilion, lighted ball field, bleachers, playground equipment, tennis courts, a campground and a deer and elk park were added. The Stanley Sportsman's Club has restocked Chapman Lake with adult bluegills. Our park is being improved all the time. In 2012 a new pavilion was built. Chapman Park is the home of the annual Rodeo where thousands of people from miles around enjoy vendors, food and of course the best Rodeo in the area.
