The Stanley Theater

theater_large11

Stanley is a unique small community in that it still has a theater operating on its Main Street. Operating the theater in Stanley has been a labor of love for the Dan and Cecilia Eslinger family, since Cecilia, her mother and brother purchased the theater in 1964. During the summer of 2003 the theater's facade was restored to its 1930's appearance, and restoration inside this historical theater continues every year.

The Stanley Theater  features current movies. Call (715) 644-5988 to get information on the movie currently being featured at the theater.

To contact the Stanley Theater call Louie Eslinger @ (715) 703-0423 or Theresa Eslinger-Pries @ (715) 703-0941

The D.R. Moon Library at 154 E. Fourth Avenue has much more than books to check out...DVDs, magazines, music CDs, books on CDs and many newly published books.  The children's department features a wide variety of materials for the very young, as well as interesting items for young adults.  The library has nine new computers installed in 2009.

Stanley's library is part of the MORE library system which has more than 1.5 million items that can be sent to Stanley.  There is no charge for this service and the library card is free too. Items can also be ordered on the internet at www.more.lib.wi.us and will be sent for pick-up at the library of your choice.  Stanley's library web site is www.stanleylibrary.org.

The library was gifted to the city in 1901 by Mrs. Sally F. Moon. She had the library built as a memorial to her late husband, Delos R. Moon, a lumber magnate with Stanley's largest industry, the Northwestern Lumber Company. The library building is on the National Registers of Historic Places.

For more information or to volunteer, contact Lori Stanek at the Stanley Public Library, (715) 644-2004.
