Deputy Clerk/Treasurer & Police Administrative Assistant Job Description and Advertisement

Candidate must possess a high level of integrity, problem solving skills, verbal and written communication skills and an excellent commitment to public service.

Duties include and are not limited to accounts payable and receivable, issuing and collecting utility billings and related utility services, issuing licenses and permits, collection of real estate and personal property taxes, election administration, open records requests, and audit preparation. Police Department Administrative duties will include customer service, and miscellaneous administrative tasks as directed by the Police Chief. Will also be responsible for filling in for Clerk/Treasurer as needed with some evening council meeting attendance required. The ability to become a notary is also a must.

Candidate shall possess strong accounting/bookkeeping and customer service skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, the ability to retain confidentiality, and the ability to meet deadlines. The successful candidate shall have an accounting associate’s degree or equivalent in a closely related field. Consideration will also be given for any combination of education and progressively responsible experiences.

Normal work hours required will be eight hours per day, five days per week, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch. This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefit package that includes WRS retirement, health insurance, vacation, and holiday pay. Life Insurance and Supplemental insurances are also offered. Professional training opportunities may be provided by the City of Stanley.

The starting salary range is $17.00 – $20.00 per hour DOQ with a fringe benefit package.
